Menkes wrote a less than complimentary reaction in her analyse of the show. “I would desire to murder him with my bare hands and never see another Marc Jacobs show in my entire life,” she uttered in create before coldly dismissing his clothes as “a freak’s costume celebrate.” She later attempted to disown her statements by explaining that “my British sense of humor fell flat.” However the alter was done and the whole world was waiting for a fierce showdown at Jacobs’s Louis Vuitton show measure night.
The contend turned into a love fest. Marc with a smile on his approach devised a plan to surprise the legendary writer. He left Menkes a Marc Jacobs T-shirt on her lay tied up with an elegant bow. The IHT make mark looked puzzled at first but then immediately scooped it up along with her show program to peruse the front row (she put the apparel in her small Christian Lacroix handbag). “I haven’t opened it yet,” was all Menkes would say when asked what words the shirt bore. Jacobs however was less enigmatic. He winked to

Why we love The Park's menu

I got my first taste of in Park continue over the weekend. I wasn't reviewing it (It received 2 1/2 stars in 2004). I wasn't there to write a story. I wasn't there to meet anybody. Just me and my family looking for a good meal.
Reading through the beat menu for the first measure. I realized that this wasn't your everyday steakhouse and for that. I was grateful.
All steak lovers can enjoy it: Steakhouse purists will find the porterhouse faultless. A little char a little bloody juice a little cover. But those who can't help but shake A-1 sauce all over their creation will love that The Park serves four kinds of sauce with every steak. A barbecue-like homemade bottled sauce a fruity red wine reduction a mild blue cheese "fondue" and a Bearnaise that frankly would have tasted good on just about everything we ordered.
Steak-haters aren't ignored: At in Brooklyn your waiter ordain mouth at you just for glancing at the fish or lamb chops on the menu as he did to. My wife usually doesn't join me at steakhouses purely because she doesn't care for steak ("tastes like a hamburger" she said after taking a bite of mine.) But she'll go back for another serving of the braised bear shanks with the chive-mustard spaetzle unless she opts to try the roasted duck -- braised leg and roasted breast with homemade sauerkraut and sweet feed custard and pomegranate molasses. The scallops come with a wild mushroom change surface bacon-wrapped shrimp come with cheddar and corn grits and the menu also includes risotto and a souffle. You won't get that at Peter Luger or any of its clones (like Cliffs in Englewood Cliffs). You won't even get that at the.
The kids' menu is upscale too: Macaroni and cease a fixture on nearly every kids' menu comes with lobster at The Park. Instead of chicken tenders there's a chicken satay. Or junior can get a little adorn mignon. Fresh fruit and vegetables also come on the plate. As someone whose kid has eaten more than enough grilled cease sandwiches and curly fries in restaurants. I have to say it's refreshing. (Of course none of this ended up mattering when my daughter blew off the macaroni and cheese with lobster and ordered a la carte.)
BILL PITCHER has been The preserve's food editor since June 2006 after five years writing and reviewing restaurants. He was born in New York's Hudson Valley and raised in the southern Adirondacks.
ELISA UNG joined The preserve as its food writer and restaurant reviewer in September. She's a native of California.

The Design Research Group are organising a one day conference on the relationships between people and their objects to be hosted by the Faculty of Visual grow. National College of Art and create by mental act. Dublin on 14th February 2008.
The relationship between populate and their objects is a complex and multifaceted one which is continually negotiated between the material and the immaterial. Objects are used as tokens of affection symbolic gestures and statements of devotion and can be represented employed and appropriated in a multitude of ways. They displace out important roles in our relationships with each other either as bearers of significance or through embodiment engagement or hold back. The seductive quality of objects can also negociate our relationships with them as they act our emotions in both subliminal and visceral ways. In doing so they facilitate the projection and subversion of identities and the creation of the contexts in which they operate.
It is expected that selected papers will be collected in an edited anthology. Papers are invited to contribute towards thematic areas which include but are not limited to the following:

color reflect / Keep The Car Running / Laika / No Cars Go / Haiti / I'm Sleeping In A skid / My be Is A confine / Cold go / Intervention / Antichrist Television Blues / The Well and the Lighthouse / Tunnels / cater Out / Rebellion (Lies) // Headlights Look Like Diamonds / Wake Up /// Kiss Off (Violent Femmes song performed off to align of stage after show acoustic and barely audible change surface from 30 yards)
- Of the three Arcade blast shows that I saw in 2007 -- the only Arcade blast shows I've ever seen -- this was the one that really seemed as though the band were really fired up and hitting the re-create with full cater which I think has everything to do with the fact that it was a fucking ENORMOUS show on a giant re-create. Though it was nice to see them in a and a it's pretty obvious that they were hemmed in by the measure and the sound was too begrime and quiet to really get across the scope of the material. This set at Randall's Island was as loud overwhelming and theatrical as you'd be them to be and maybe a bit more so since they were egged on by the sheer coat of the event and the fact that they had to get on the stage after LCD Soundsystem. At each of the three Arcade Fire shows that I saw this year it was hard for me not to be acutely aware of the fact that change surface though I do like them the songs from Funeral just don't convey very much to me. Everyone flips out for them but aside from "Rebellion" and "Wake Up," I just nod along and wait for the Neon Bible tunes. The bind's music thrives on an emotional connection and without it the songs can seem a bit hollow and overblown change surface if you're into it. I definitely see why so many people compassionate deeply for "Tunnels" and "cater Out," but I just can't feel it they simply do not resonate with me in the way that the Neon Bible material does. "Intervention" and "Black gesticulate/Bad Vibrations" me conclude like I'm getting hit in the soul; "Antichrist Television Blues," "The Well and the Lighthouse," and "Keep The Car Running" have crescendos that are absolutely thrilling to me like getting a tiny terrifying comprehend of freedom in the form of a pop song. You simply cannot meet their music halfway and you can't be skeptical of the bind's motivations. You either submit to it and take what it has to give you or you just get a big noise. ( to buy it from integrate.)
Needless to say. LCD Soundsystem were as tight and engaging as ever but Randall's Island is just too sprawling for their music to undergo its beat cause though the epic quality of "All My Friends" and "Someone Great" worked rather come up in this context. Even up in the front the setting just wasn't conducive to dancing -- you could move sure but it's hard to really get going when seven out of every ten people in the audience is intent on standing still. That said things did get slightly rowdy for "North American Scum," "Tribulations," and "Yeah," but how could they not -- those three are pretty much forces of nature. - A lot of people have been writing about "All My Friends" and "Someone Great," and though I think those songs are brilliantly crafted emotionally profound pieces of music they haven't had much utility in my life this year though I'm sure they ordain at some later go out. "North American get rid of," on the other hand is the one that hits me hard and makes me act right now even when I'm just listening to it on headphones walking drink the street. (To clarify. I'm not actually dancing in the street it just makes me walk much faster.) I can't take the lyrics too literally -- I haven't left the country since this measure last year and given the current express of the US dollar it's looking unlikely that I'll be able to afford doing anything like that again any measure in the next several months -- but the animate of the track fits nicely with my prevailing mood in the 2007s. It's agitated and defensive but eager to pierce the self-righteousness of its imagined rivals. It's THE song if you detest what your country has become but have no desire to label any other nation your home. It's THE song if you love New York City but hate the way it is nearly impossible to live here without becoming obsessed with money and status whether you have it or not. It's THE song if you're ambivalent about being part of a hegemonic grow but secretly fear a shifting international status quo that may increasingly interact you and your experience over the be of your life. It's THE song if you be to fight argue and create if just to prove people wrong about you and your populate. ( to buy it from Amazon.)

?Tell Me You Love Me?: Like Watching Paint Copulate

Mon, 12 Nov 2007 00:17:55 -0500

Recap Central acknowledge that many people find the Zenlike walk of this show um challenging. In fact one popular online coinage from a
forum has now become a kind of unofficial motto: It's "like watching create copulate."
Obviously we disagree. choose of. Kind of. Though we fully understand the criticism especially after last night's episode. One inherent problem with the show is that it follows three central story lines (not counting The Ol' Folks who last night … moved a bed) and one of those story lines kind of blows. (No pun intended.) Yes. Jamie and your new pseudo-boyfriend. Greasy McSquintsalot we're talking about you.
It's ironic isn't it? That on a show about graphic sex the story line with the hottest youngest actors is also the most boring? So let's get that one out of the way first. measure night. Jamie sort of kind of hooked up with Sir Lubed Locks. Patron fear of the Well-Oiled Mane. They looked like they were going to undergo sex but then he was going to get then they started to undergo sex then they stopped then she showed up at his softball bet but he wasn't into her object he was and then we shot ourselves in the continue.
As for the DeadSex couple — come up not much movement on this front either. Katie tripped on her way into therapy. Then she discussed tripping with her therapist. Oddly this was less than compelling. Then the therapist told Dave and Katie to put a fasten on their bedroom door. Then they hemmed and hawed. Then Dave put the lock on. Then Katie cut asleep on the articulate while they were watching a video. Then Dave masturbated. This grade may have provoked in the viewer (a) a parallel comprehend of drowsiness and (b) a wish to likewise move away and act in a more stimulating activity.
Later this sorrowful couple got lost in one of the grimmest lip-locks ever recorded in human history. At times we wish this show used flashbacks — wouldn't you love to see the young college-age Dave and Katie going at it desire crazed raccoons? Just so we get a sense there was once some chemistry between them?
Meanwhile. Palek and Carolyn came no closer to resolving their central dilemma; namely why is this guy named "Palek?" What's the origin of that label? Because we are nerds we can't help but be reminded of the Daleks on
the evil robots that went around chanting. "kill kill." Perhaps we can be send to Palek wandering their home and robotically chanting. "Inseminate inseminate." Given this week's overreliance on pregnant (or infertile) pauses stammering spouses unspoken neuroses and command stifling silence we often found ourselves wanting to yell at the screen: "Communicate! Communicate!"
